MARGARET REIDY
OCTOBER 1937 – AUGUST 2021
We remember you.
Little Miss Marg, Clarrie’s only child.
With Annette Childhood
In 1959, at age 22, Margaret was a finalist in the Miss Wellington Airport competition. Dad was in the local air force and was supposed to be escorting the winner. Instead, he took Mum home.
A year later they were married.
With dad in Wellington days.
Mum with Ben in Kelburn. Hard to tell who's more excited!
Mum and Jade
Tahiti ladies. April, Holly and Bailey with Grandma New Zealand.
Mum and Chris
Skyline with Ben and Curtis. Margaret was never one to pass on an adventure.
The Devine family at Kapiti while Ben was living with his grandmother.
Pacific holidays with the family were a chance to be whoever you wanted.
Mum often travelled with Dad on his overseas business trips, and after he died she broadened her horizons even further, fulfilling a lifelong desire to see the Taj Mahal and St Petersburg.
Mum really outdid herself this time.
Sisters in law. June was one of many who loved staying in Marg’s beautiful home in Raumati.
Mum with Firuta
Her close friends meant a lot to her, and you can see they loved her right back.
In the 2000s, she exhibited many of the porcelain paintings that were too precious to ever sell. Finn MacCoull was her favourite.
We had the last word about Margaret but here she gets the last word in a card she wrote to all of us before the dementia fully claimed her.
“Please remember you are loved, and I’ve just finished some writings to tell you that I do think you are just lovely. With my memory for this latest one.” Margaret
